Can someone help with Spanish skydiving terms?
Can't Post
Hi all, can anyone help me to get hold of some key skydiving terms in Spanish? I jump in England but will be going to a small dropzone in Spain at Easter where I think ost people will probably not speak good English. I am brushing up on my Spanish but would love to have a list of more specialist words and phrases to use. We English have it too easy at the larger dropzones in europe where most people speak our language embarassingly well!

You might ask (in English) in the Events and Places to Jump forum about the particular dropzone you are going to. You might also ask (in Spanish) in the Spanish-language forum about a general list of terms.

There is a fairly comprehensive list HERE that should help you with skydive specific terms. For more generic terms and phrases to help you while traveling, download and print THIS phrase book out. Have fun.

No, it is Skydive Murcia. As it is on the Costa Blanca I am probably wrong, but wanted to be able to communicate safely at least if there is little English spoken. The larger dropzones are embarrasingly easy for us Brits. At Lillo I was impressed that the Germans and Spanish even speak to each other in English!

Al, I know how to swear in Spanish but that probably won't endear you to the Spaniards! Just don't call anybody Pendejo while you are there-
nobody uses that word in spain :P, they do use it in southamerica tho :)
If you give me a list of words i can translate em for you, im afraid that most of the terms you'll find around here are not spanish spanish but southamerican spanish. Anyway they'd understand you as a brit understands an aussie or yankee :).
when did you go to lillo? im a local, we prolly met there :)

Hi Alistar, Im an Irish skydiver and I live about 20mins from Skydive Murcia, although I normally jump at Lillo. Your right about one thing, the people at Skydive Murcia dont speak much English, which I guess is a good thing, for sure you'll get to pratice a bit of Spanish. Anyway if you would like to know any up to date info on either DZ feel free to email or pm me. John
