This will be my sixth PIA Symposium. At previous symposia, I lectured on: Packing Ram-Air Parachutes int o Pilot Emergency Containers, Re-lining Canopies and Hand-Mounted Video.
What other topics would you like to hear about?
International Riggers' Standardisation Program?
Jump Pilot forums, divided into specific airplanes?
We'll be there - we'd love a discussion on tandem harnesses. Strengths/weaknesses/ways to improve, etc.
See you in Reno! -d

I'd love to see a seminar going into more detail on the privilages of each rating and what the major differences are and limitations for each also. Things like Reline, replacing of grommets, etc. Each rigger seems to think slightly differently about what another one is allowed to do and it would be great to have either a siminar or a round table discussion on it.

I'll be giving a Mirage reserve container packing/closing seminar. In fact that reminds me that the computer I had two years ago with the PowerPoint document for this crashed and the file is gone. I need to completely remake that presentation...which should give it a fresh perspective with updated tips.
Presentation Title: "Parachute Research From Computer Simulation to Uses in the Field"
1. Introducing the Truncated Cone Decelerator (TCD) parachute
2. Introducing OSCALC, a simple but effective opening shock calculation program.
3. Using the Parachute Inflation Modeling Suite (PIMS) to model the opening shock of hard opening canopies modified with large sliders.
4. Improvements to the Parachute Inflation Modeling Suite (PIMS) to include modeling ram-air parachutes with sliders during both the slider-up and slider-down phases.
The presentation will include live demonstrations of both computer programs running on a laptop computer.
