Last I heard about Mitch was from Hoot Gibson in Deland Florida, he had seen him in Alaska at a small remote airport.
This was two years ago.

At least last season (and a number before that) he was a smoke jumper in Alaska; you can probably get hold of him that way. I actually read about him in a book about smoke jumping.

Google him and you should get a contact name.

Hi Colin, i suspected as much. Just so happened I was looking up Mitch myself, that's how I came by the answer and this *old* thread.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mitch and got to talking with him, back in September of 1988 @ EmpuriaBrava (CPCB), but it would be a miracle if he remembers me :-) OTOH I guess *anyone* who met Mitch (and Maria) will remember him!
