DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance.
Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer".
Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa
If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check.
If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.

Actually, he has a point. Although in this case he definately IS a scammer I have had a few people not want to deal with me because I'm from overseas, period. Okay I'll admit it we're all scammers over here. You stupid americanos are all the same!
Ive now had 2 different people from russia want to buy a spectre I have for sale and both wanted all my bank info for a wire. It seems legit but I'd never do it because once they have your routing and bank account number they could empty it just as easy as put money in it. So being from the netherlands, how would you pay someone in the united states? Is a wire about the only way to do it cross borders because these russians tell me something about paypal not working in their country or something.
Paypal is easiest, and works fine over here, otherwise creditcard, or cash if we can arrang something with jumpers going to/from the States (or wherever).
I have never transfered money to/from the States by bank/wire whatever, but from Thailand, Eastern Europe etc bank transfers work fine too. Cheques are also ok but kinda costly over here to use.

Are you positive on this - cause unless they have some weird censorship on the internet I could go to europe right now with nothin but a routing and account number and empty anyones account right now for a US account checking account. There are numerous things I have paid for onilne with a online check that requires only those 2 numbers and has no verification process at all.
Well I have no clue how it works on your side of the pond. But indeed, over here we transfer money to others on a regular basis this way. It's perfectly normal. How do you guys do it if you can't reveal the numbers?!?
To PAY with someones account you need the card and a personal code, or when online there are various ways of proving you are who you say you are, either with a list of codes or a card scanner, stuff like that.
Creditcards are another matter, but you hand out your creditcard numbers to others too right? At least to businesses.
From our point of view, it's safer to give bank account numbers than creditcard numbers that's for sure.
Hm.... over here credit cards are much preferred because if someone even charged up 10k on your card that you didnt authorize the most you ever have to pay is 50 dollars. The credit card company takes care of the rest. Where with a bank account they could just empty it and the bank wouldnt even fight for you. Im sure you couldnt do it going into a bank and just asking to empty someones account but you could buy stuff online and get it shipped to you with someone elses bank info.
i just told a guy "mark cole " to get lost. he sent $3000 for a $400 chute and asked me to pay the shipper. i should have torn it up but it was amoney order so im checked it out at the bank.after deducting my expenses and hassle fee i sent the rest to the shipper. they never came for the rig so i emailed them and said i would put it back on sale if it wasn't picked up. he says the guy broke his spine and is in an african hospital could i return the money. wow what balls these guys have. anyway i told him to hit the road
