RUMOR OR TRUE? Non-diver Needs answer	Can't Post

I heard a story about a girl who was deaf who went skydiving and got her hearing back. I do not know if she was born deaf, or lost her hearing later.

My understanding is that this happened in the 80s and in Southern California.

Thanks for replies with names/dates/anything that could help me track down the story.

True. She was born deaf. It happened in 1984 at a DZ in California, but it has been closed for a long time now. I had nearly forgotten about it.

Hi,

I don't know, but I believe it was a fluke in 1984. Try checking historical newspaper records. It is not a cure for deafness, but if true, her ears probably had a long term blockage that cleared up in skydiving.

There is a deaf skydiver website at http://www.deafskydivers.org and none of us regained our hearing while skydiving.
