Keys in Jan!
I was going to hold off posting this till next week..... But the snow has made me change my mind! The 5th Annual January Keys Boogie is on. Traditionally in the past it has been more of an invitational for the staff of a northern DZ. This year we are going to open it up a little. Details so far:
Dates: Friday Jan 28 through Tuesday Jan 31 Must have a C-license in hand Must have flotation device Cessna Grand Caravan
This is a pretty tight landing area and not for people with so-so canopy skills. If your coming from the north we highly recommend you take a day or two to get current in Miami.
I'll update things next week as far as: Registration/ jump costs Jumps onto the beach
Other stuff happening the Wed-Sun after: Scuba diving Reef fishing Key West trip
Well, then...we'll have to get the birdies to flock down for this one as well. A few weekends ago at Sebastian's Keys Boogie, the weather was so nice; warm tropical breeze, beautiful beach sunsets. The local restaurants had awesome cuisine with great views and live outdoor music. Great place to skydive!
Wouldn't be the "first" time they woke up in bed together
Yall are making me laugh. Seriously though...can we camp on the DZ or airport or whatever it is or do we need to secure a hotel room. Art: you and Tammie are special. Don't even make me go there about that time in Deland.....on/off...on/off
Skydive on Marathon Island!!! Sat Jan 28 thru Tues Jan 31 Grand Caravan Jump tickets $22 to 13,000 Registration $40 for all 4 days or $10 a day (reflects a 5% discount for cash, credit cards add 5%) Free dinner on Sunday night for registered jumpers ($10 for non-registered)
Beach jumps at Sunset ( Mon & Tues....still working on Sat & Sun....) Birdman flocking, hoop dives, other fun jumps Scuba diving, reef fishing, and Key West trip later in the week
MUST HAVE: A flotation device A C-license IN HAND In-date gear Good canopy control skills
You can pre-register with a credit card by sending me an email, and include how many jump tickets you want. That way they will be waiting on you AND the 5% credit card fee will be WAIVED if you pre-register by Jan 20!!
As far as hotels, the Coconut Cay still has rooms available. They are going to give us the "off season rates" for the skydivers coming to the boogie. You can hop on their website at http://www.coconutcay.com/index2.html for pictures of the rooms and property. It's located a mere 30 paces from the DZ! Room rates are as follows:
"We are happy to offer the same discount as last year: doubles and standards at $79, dockside rooms at $89 and Dockside and Courtyard kitchens at $99.
I have set a block of rooms aside, so email asap with the nights you will be staying and the room you desire.
The Blackfin Inn (http://www.blackfinresort) and Sombrero Resort (http://www.sombreroresort.com) will be used as back ups incase we fill Coconut Cay.
If you are interested in scuba diving, reef fishing, or the Key West trip....send me an email and I'll get those details out a little later in December.
Any other questions, feel free to email me! Thanks, Swoop

Alright peeps...this is a month and a half away, it's freakin cold outside and even though I can't jump at this, I'm going to be there... those that can, should get your butts down to the keys for this week!!!!
Think about it... GRAND CARAVAN, SUN, BLUE SKIES, THE BEACH, CLEAR BLUE WATER, COCONUTS, PINA COLADAS, HOTTIES IN BATHING SUITS AND JUMPING AT THE BEACH!!! (Notice I did not mention anything about jager).
Hello everybody! Just a heads up that the Keys Boogie is a little over 6 weeks away. I talked to Ruth at the Coconut Cay and they are down to about 7 rooms left for that weekend. If you would like to stay there, I would reserve a room ASAP! The number there is 1-877-354-7356. Make sure you tell them you are with the skydivers to receive the discount. I'm trying to get a firm head count on people planning on attending. Please email me and let me know if your going to be there for sure. Also, let me know if your interested in in scuba diving/ reef fishing/ or a trip to Key West later in the week.
Several people have asked about the flotation devices. I have found the website below, but not much more than that. You may want to search around for a better deal. I *might* have some for sale or rent and will forward information when I know. http://www.coastalmarineonline.com/...amp;dept%5Fid=160314
Model: Stearns 0340 or 0375
Please don't wait to reserve rooms because they are limited due to the hurricane they had this year.
Oh.....and by the way, the ave low and high in Marathon during the boogie:
Ave low: 62.9°F
Ave high: 76.0°F
Looking forward to another great time in the Keys!!! Swoop
