IMAC TRANSITIONS Can't Post

Has anybody had problems with the imac's G5 transititons, any of them, makeing a stratchy nosie or some kind of nosie when entering and exiting the transition. I turned the volume down on the transition but i still get that noise. The only way i can make it stop is to un-check the check mark at the right side of the timeline. But then that takes the voices away too. Some of the time it does it and some of the time it don't. Can someone help me in solving this problem.

THANKS

First things first, let's clear something up; the iMac isn't what's causing the issue, it's the software you're using.

From your description of the interface, I'm going to assume you're using iMovie. Is that correct?

You probably need to select the clip (in this case the transition) and then from the menus, choose Advanced-->Extract Audio (Apple-J), then delete the little bit of noise from the audio track.

I hope that helps

I had this problem in imovie once , and i had to reload the video and edit it over .I don't know the cause of it for sure .It only did it when i made a slide show of photo's at the end of the video ,transitions between the stills that i used from video clips is where i had the problem.

Yes its imovie i am using and its the transition entering and exiting. The thing is at the begining the transtions work fine. Then ltr in the movie it starts doing it. Basicialy when i start cuting clips and adding transitions between the cut clips.

Yeah, iMovie isn't a perfect piece of software, but for the price it's pretty good. This transition issue, cross dissolve audio is definately one thing they could work on a little better. Then again, it's an essentially free piece of software that, for the price, is awfully darn good.

I can't say that I've cut anything in iMovie for awhile and maybe the more current version works better, but as I recall the issue was that the transition clip didn't know where the level was set in the from or to clip, so it just popped it up to full volume for the cross dissolve.

I think what others have suggested about extracting the audio and working with that might help as will grabbing the audio level for a particular clip and dragging it slightly up or down for a manual setting of the fade. so maybe it looks a bit like this

Re: [quade] IMAC TRANSITIONS [In reply to] Can't Post

Its kind of werid I turned up the volume in the music think it would hide it but it don't. I can't figur it out. I have the new Imovie HD on my Imac g5. I have worked on a powermac G4 and and Imac G4 and they do not do it. So I am at a lose I have tried different things and the only why so far is to uncheck the check mark and shut off all audio to that line but that can't be done for tandems so I need someone who has worked on the new imoive by imac on a G5 and if they have had this problem. And how to go about fixing it. I have tried redoing the video and extracting audio. With the extracting audio what is the best way to fix that.

PLEASE HELP IT IS VERY IMPORTANT

Discussion on Apple's website about this same thing
Here

Added: It seems that the noise may go away when burned to dvd, and might only exist while editing in iMovie... mixed reports of this.

if your imac shipped with imovie 4 then it's on the original installation discs...

Have you upgraded to 5.0.2?
