Write-in candidate for USPA Pacific Regional Director
A good friend of mine is running as a write-in candidate for USPA Pacific Regional Director. This e-mail was delivered to the Northern California Skydiver network, but I think this venue gets to more of us in the region.
Hi NorCal Folks-
Are you as sick of all the election talk as I am? Well, unfortunately, there is one more thing I have to bring up: USPA elections.
I'm writing today to ask you for your support in the upcoming USPA election. I have decided to run as a write-in candidate for Pacific Regional Director. Each of the 14 regions elects one candidate who becomes the liaison for the jumpers and DZ's from that region to the USPA Board of Directors. I'd like the privilege of doing that for you.
Here's my biographical blurb with the basics: Name: Chris Quaintance ("Q"). Age: 30, self-employed. First jump: 1997. Total jumps: 2400. Jumps past year: 400. Licenses and ratings: A-28805, B-28909, D-23345, AFF-I, Tandem-I, Private Pilot. Awards: GW, DW, GFF, DFF, 4-stack, Double Falcon, Eagle. Bronze medal, Nationals 2000. And that is enough of that!
This is my eighth year of skydiving and it's time that I step up my involvement. From freeflying to RW, wingsuits to CRW, instructing to swooping, I've pursued many different flavors of the sport we all enjoy. I believe this has given me the experience to effectively represent the many different interests of the jumpers in the Pacific region. It is my opinion that the USPA has neglected some of the interests of average skydiver in favor of the business interests of the DZ's. While promotion of the sport as a whole is important, we need to make sure that our existing members are getting the services they need at a reasonable cost. I intend to solicit opinions and suggestions and bring those to the Board of Directors where appropriate. I will fight for what you need!
In order to do this, I need your vote. You should have received your ballot in November's Parachutist. There is one little box for Regional Director write-in candidate. In that box, please print my name "Chris Quaintance." The USPA will not accept any misspellings or nicknames, so I guess I can't just run as Q! Also, do not forget to sign the ballot at the top, print your membership number etc., and mail it in.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a line. Thanks for your time and, hopefully, your vote!

Q...are you OK, man? Surely life can't be that bad?
Seriously, Q would be an excellent choice. I was thinking about nominating Andy (SkydiveXXL), just because the idea of having a beer salesman for the Pacific Regional Director seemed too good to pass up. But of course, he'd kill me, so there is a down side...
Q, you've got my vote! Good luck, we'll spread the word!

Hey, vote for that dude! He knows what's up.
But seriously, thanks for the exposure and endorsement, JP. I do certainly appreciate it.
Mike, all I can say is that it sure seemed like a good idea at the time! I do believe that it is time we get some new blood on the BOD and start looking out for your average skydiver. I am definitely tired of what appears to be the USPA shaking students and upjumpers for every last coin in their pocket. Change will be slow, but we have to start somewhere.
If anyone has specific questions, drop me an email. My address is in my profile.
I appreciate your support!
Cheers, --Q (Chris Quaintance...you need to spell it correctly!)
