Is this the right size? Can't Post

I am about to buy a rig that has a PD 9 cell. my weight is 150 with gear and the size of the main is 190.
The statistics on the PD web site say that I am in the correct range to fly this canopy. The main instructor on my DZ said that althow it is a big canopy it will fit me fine.
I am asking ur opinion because a few ppl told me that the canopy is to big for me and I should look for something else.
so what do you guys think?
until now I jumped rented gear, the size range was 230-280 (navigator).
I havent jumped it yet (the cypres was sent for inspection and in Israel it is mandatory on all rigs to be with AAD)

zahiv,

I doubt many people on here will have seen you jump or watched your landings, so your home Instructors are definately the best source of information.

Who is saying that the canopy is too big for you? Other instructors or some friends? Remember - it's better to be too large than too small.

I can't give you advice on the correct size, but for what it's worth, my first rig has been a PD190 and I'm only a tiny bit heavier than you... It treated me nicely.

I am sure that the instructor on your DZ is giving you the correct advice. Follow itSmile

what you are saying (also speedy) makes sense. I do trust my DZ instructor. The ppl that told me it's 2 big for me are friends and not instructors.

thanks

i'm sure i've seen you land a few times Wink
but no one knows better than you.

you can do a lot on a 190, and 170 could fit you fine too.
if you buy used you could always replace it later on and you wont lose a lot on it.

i suggest you try.
talk to people and see if you could try their rigs, then you'll know more.

as with anything else in this sport, listen to people, but decide for yourself.

Sometimes friends forget what it is like to be new in the sport.

You will learn a lot on the 190. And it will keep you from spending a fortune on rental gear.

Jump it until you have enough experience to decide for yourself what you want.

This will not be your only rig purchase if you stay in the sport. But it will get you from point A to point B.
