CHECK YOUR FREAKIN GEAR!--AGAIN!
Just a friendly reminder Had a friend go up and have his bag FALL OUT of the container on jumprun, just changed his closing loop, toooo loonngg. Anyhow if someone didnt check his rig before exit.................
Wow!! Thats insane!! Did he pack it himself? If so then someone should teach him about the closing loop tension and length. If not then I would certainly have a few words with the person who told him that it was ok to jump. Yikes!! That would have easily have been a horseshoe.
I agree with Albatross as long as we are talking about rigs with throw out PC. However, in student rigs with springloadedPC and a ripcord, there have been hard pull malfunctions explained with too tight loop. They are very rare though and I totally agree with the idea that adjusting the loop to the right tightness is really very easy way to increase your skydiving safety.

How did he ever even get to the airplane with that problem? He obviously doesn't check his own gear before he puts it on.. Complacency kills.. If he is the one that replaced the closing loop in the first place, he needs to be taught a couple things - send him to a rigger for an explanation of closing loops..
Your friend was very lucky that somebody else actually cared enough to do a gear check - because he obviously didn't.
