.avi mystery Can't Post

I have several PCs. I find that one of them only recognizes one of my .avi files (made by GoPro Studio) as an audio, while the other PCs recognize it correctly as video. Other video .avi files (not from GoPro Studio) are recognized properly by the errant PC.

I find video filenaming and codecs something of a mystery, but I am ass-uming this is a codec problem. Or could it be a GoPro Studio problem?

Was going to suggest Gspot to see if the necessary codecs were installed but apparently that program has been abandoned since 2007. You can try this:

https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Or try installing the GoPro software on the computer that doesn't work and maybe that will update the codec required?

What's the difference between the problem PC and the rest of them?
Different OS?
Different graphics processing?
There must be something there that would indicate where the problem is - I don't reckon it's with the file you're using.

You need the proper codec to be installed. The one that is recognizing it as audio can probably only decode the audio stream. As was already suggested gspot will tell you what codec it needs to view the file.

I had the same problem on my pc, only got the audio.

I installed the DivX player and then I could see the video as well.
