Used German Student Gear Can't Post

Don't speak German so hopefully a few of you speak English!

About a dozen years ago the guy I purchased my DZ from had bought a bunch of used student gear from Germany. As I understand, there's a German rule limiting gear to 10 years? So, my student gear is 20 plus years old, and starting to show it's age. If the 10 year rule is actual, I was wondering if the stuff goes on the international market somehow.

Any help would be appreciate.
Martin

In reply to:

Danke,
I can see that the repack cycle, and life limit would be a huge consideration for you guys. Something tells me that there aren't many Strong tandem rigs in Germany, as they're still on a 120 day cycle, where as the Vector/Sigma is a 1 year cycle, and unlimited lifetime.

the german 15-year limit was (and to some extent still is) very usefull for many cause there was a steady flow of still jumpable and airworthy gear coming from germany to neighboring countries Smile
if you need some more info you can pm me any time

there is no 15 year rule anymore,....its a thing of the past regarding every rig that was jumped in germany,...even when it comes from usa or wherever,...
since a couple of years its important what the manufacturer states in the manual,....regarding lifetime or repackcycle,...

in the end its like everywhere,....u can use the gear as long its in the limit of the manufactor┤s manual or your rigger says "thats it, buy a new one",....
whatever comes first,....
