A Colorado Springs woman was injured sky diving Saturday when she lost control of her parachute, Fremont County officials said.

Other DZ's in CO closed for the day due to winds. This was sad and preventable. It is up to experience to temper excitement and call it off when safety is paramount.

I didn't see high winds mentioned in the article, just that she couldn't reach or grasp one of her steering toggles. Winds certainly could have been a factor. I just don't know.

As always, the initial news articles don't have enough info to really understand what happened.

I hope her injuries are minor and she heals quickly.

The winds are weird in Canon City. Denver or even the springs may be gusting like crazy while Canon City is fine. Check out this wind map that usually shows a nice hole in that area: http://hint.fm/wind/.

People are always warned about that ravine. Don't land there at all costs.
