Thanks Doug,
I had a great trip out there, although it was for work I managed to visit Elsinore and stop by Perris. Both outstanding operations with great staff. Made a jump at Elsinore and what a view.
I love seeing operations in action. It gives me great ideas to bring back to the home DZ. Networking can only make the sport better. I will say, I observed DSE's wing suit operations in full swing and was very impressed. It is ground breaking in the area of educating new and experienced wing suitters. I see it as the wave of the future. I wish more DZ's would look to his model to start up programs. It is also great to see how the landing areas are being set up, how the patterns are being used, and how each DZ tries to educate all jumpers. Both by the way are doing an excellent job.
The whole idea behind getting all the directors together prior to the meeting in SD is to network with membership, keep eyes and ears open and use the information we get to better the sport. I am still pushing this for a good turnout. God willing and if I am allowed to represent further I will try to make it common with all USPA meetings.
Anyhow, it was great meeting everyone out there in the west and I am looking forward to returning in Feb. I will be doing Wed at (Elsinore/Perris) and Thursday at SD. If you have a topic youwant to discuss grab me by the arm and unlease it.

OK,
One last request. Please if you are at Elsinore on Wed or San Diego on Thursday find me, introduce yourself, tell me you user name and let me know all of your thoughts. I planned this as a networking information gathering event. I know the complaint has been disconnect between membership and BOD. In fact I thought it myself over the years.
This is a small step in the right direction. I have confirmed approximately 80 % of the BOD for Thursday. So if you are near or have the opportunity stop by and flame everyone in person. It is much better that way. I went to a DZ near by two weeks ago and got hammered by several guys about night jumps. Yes it sucked getting scolded but all of their points were valid and will be put forth on their behalf.

Although it really doesnt mean shit, you've got my support, brother. Weather I agree with you are not. It takes balls to put yourself out there and take the slings and arrows that come along with it. Much respect and please continue to lead by example.

Yes the DZ. I personally will be at Elsinore all day Wed. and at San Diego all day Thursday. Then it is off to the hotel for three days of meetings with the BOD. It will be tough to sit in there if the weather is good by the way.

okay, Little update. I was at Elsinore all day Wed in the pouring rain and unfortunately didnt get to meet anyone other than DSE. Another Director Randy Allison stopped by as well. Thursday we had probably 80% or so of the directors at Skydive San Diego. USPA staff had a great showing as well. We made some jumps and mingled with the locals. Again,we were all available to membership all day long for any and all discussions.
Now it is off to the meetings fri, sat sun. I am available for any comments just pm me if you want any specific update.

Hey,
We are hoping this turns into a tradition amongst the BOD, we are planning another great day of jumping prior to the next meeting.
Thanks to Merriah Eakings on Thursday August 2nd at Skydive Twin Cities, Board members and USPA Staff will be airing it out with whoever is willing to show up and jump.
What a great time to grab a director and unleash on them, just kidding. Prior to the last meeting we had a great turnout and just a relaxing fun day. Please feel free to stop by.
The original purpose of this day was to interact with general membership and get some ideas, input, constructive critisism,,,,, To show membership the BOD is made up of regular people who care about skydiving and that we are approachable at all times.

Hello,
We have done everything we can to get the word out to anyone who wants to join us at Twin Cities. Shout out to Merriah Eakins who organized a great day and evening.
If you decide to go, grab me and introduce yourself. The real reason for the day is to network and meet some new friends.

I would hope anyone in the area takes advantage of this time to meet and hang out with members of the BOD.
Rich, it was a pleasure to chat during the after hours activities at the meeting in San Diego. It is refreshing to see that at least some of the BOD members are available whether it be at the meetings, or right here on dizzy.com Your efforts are appreciated.

I'm there. Dunno if I'll be jumping due to sinus infection, but I'm sure looking forward to seeing you and some of the others, meeting new people. Thanks for making this happen with the BOD.

Well it happened. We had the second bi-annual USPA BOD and USPA Staff meet and greet.
Thanks to Merriah Eakins for hosting and all of her efforts to get everyone out to the DZ. Thanks to Skydive Twin Cities for allowing us to share the air with the locals. Thank you to the guy who planted the grass and mowed it perfect to swoop all day long. Thanks to the DZ who supplied sausage sandwiches, dogs, burgers, and of course coolers of bubbly.
I personally had a great time jumping with friends. 4-way, 9-way, freefly, 7-way. I attached a link and encourage more to get invoved at the next meeting.
The meeting is scheduled in Daytona so I am starting to plan on Thursday Feb 21st at Deland. This could be the biggest meet and greet yet. Remember this is a grass roots movement to get out and mingle with members.
IMO this was a huge success with 9 Directors and 6 USPA staff present.

Okay,
March 21st, Thursday looks like the date at Deland. I am going to try to advertise in The USPA professional and News Updates. Maybe I can also get a small article in Parachutist. The last two turned out to be fun and had a pretty good turnout from USPA staff and BOD Members.
If anyone has any ideas to make this a better day please let me know. I will also encourage all new BOD members to attend so we can keep the tradition alive.
Now, if we can get some members to come on out and hang with us for the day. Then, if motivated attend our March BOD meeting. Another side goal is to improve meeting attendance.
I cant stress enough that this day is just plain fun and jumping just reminds us why we are there.
If you are from the area and want to help out give me a shout.
Be Safe and Blue Skys, Rich Winstock USPA National Director
