Online voting also required a proxy of the members We can even use the new online system to change that bylaw if so desired.
Maybe it's that bylaw changes such as where USPA in incorporated, and petition requirements for RDs to be on the ballot aren't nearly as fun and sexy as electronic voting?
Edit to add: Does the bylaw change that allows electronic voting also allow proxies to be collected electronically???
I think it's more of a chicken and egg thing; once you get electronic voting in place, then voting on other bylaw changes (such as the petition issue) that require the full membership to vote becomes much more simple than using a proxy vote. Hopefully the proxy vote to get the electronic voting available will be the last proxy vote needed. At least I think that's how it would work - that we can now use electronic voting for more than just electing board members.
What percentage of the membership is required for a quorum?
Ok, I did my own leg work: http://www.uspa.org/...loads/Man_GovMan.pdf SECTION 1: GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS General Membership Meetings (GMM) may be called by the BOD, the USPA Executive Committee, or the USPA President. A minimum of one such meeting shall be held each calendar year. A quorum of the general membership shall be 10% of the total membership. Regular members are entitled to vote either in person or by proxy at the meeting.
Cool! Let's throw another vote or two!
Edit to add: Maybe someone can clear up the "either in person or by proxy at the meeting." statement. Seems to read like we could vote electronically, but only if we're physically at the meeting.

I took her comment as a tongue in cheek "Thank You" to her supporters and slight back hand at her detractors.
I thought it was funny.
I think she was wrongly accused of a lot of things and that is why the court case in AZ had the defendant trying so hard to keep her out of the case and the USPA involved case out. I think, it would not have proven more damaging for the Defendants but also proven Jan to be right.
In other words, she'll most likely see your post here.
Thanks Krip and Martin and everyone that voted for me.
Now excuse me, for I am cultivating the plans for world domination.... bu-whaaaaaaaaaaa..........
.
Hi Make it Happen
In the spirit of full disclosure.
Please tell Jan That I didn't actually vote for her as ND.
Reason: I'm no longer a member of USPA. But if I was I would have voted for her, because of everything she has done for the sport over the years and continues to do.
To the people that have sour grapes over Jan's victory. I don't have to be a member of USPA to congratulate Jan on DZ.com. Just like you can continue to wine about her victory.
LMAO. I'm not winining. I think she has a big mouth and does know when to keep it shut. It clearly shows it in these forums. As a elected office I would think you would use a little restraint but not her and I sure hope it doesn't cost us money again. Yes Again

Cost us money AGAIN??
Are you privy to some F A C T S that the rest of the U.S. skydiving community is unaware of or are you telling a story that somebody heard from somebody's brothers friends wife's uncles barber again?
I mean, obviously she must have something going for her...SHE WON.
You've said things referring to her a few times in a rather disparaging way, could you offer up some verifiable evidence or perhaps cite your source?
Seriously...you've raised a point, can you actually back it up??
If NOT then yes, you ARE whining and as you say...a little restraint might be in order.

Interesting. Yes, she knows when to keep it shut, but I prefer she does not since she actually does research, reports FACTS, etc. etc.....and you? What is it that you know is fact to back up all your big talk?
I for one am very happy to see Jan back on the BOD. I may not agree with her all the time, but at least she doesn't try to mislead or hide information from the skydiving community like others have.

I just wanted to take a moment and offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone that voted for me. I am thrilled to see that Rich Winstock was elected, he will continue to point the instructional rating process in the right direction.
I congratulate everyone that got elected and look forward to seeing USPA continue to move forward under your direction.
As for me, after a world wind year traveling, I am now settled in working in Deland. I will continue to work on Everest Skydve 2011 for the Fall, and with the help of some great people, will be rolling out a new training program shortly, so I have alot on my plate this year.
Tom Deacon and I have our first strategy meeting in Reno for 2012.....lol, so hopefully you'l see our names on the ballot again next time around.
Thank you all again for your support and your votes, I am truly humbled to be surrounded by such great people.
.. and I sure hope it doesn't cost us money again. Yes Again
So this is the third thread in which you have disparaged Jan Meyer, and you are still uninformed about the reasons that USPA "settled" in that lawsuit. Please do your homework.

Maybe we need a thread now in the Instructors Forum on what the new BOD Members, who ran for Improving the Ratings Program. plan on doing?
Hey Matt, I am impressed and surprised how many people actually pm'd or contacted me with questions on specific topics. They wanted to know where I stood on issues prior to voting. I wish more people took an active role like that, although, it would be a huge amount of work keeping up with everyone. I tried my best but I think it is a great idea to have an area or thread where members could go with questions for BOD members. I know there are several BOD members who are on here and care tremendously about the thoughts of the online community. I think transparency and keeping an open line of communication to the members will only make us, as a whole, stronger. The best idea might come from one of you here, we would be foolish not to capitalize on the enormous amount of experience available to us here.
On my website http://www.richwinstock.com under the forums there is a dedicated thread for USPA Concerns. The forums are used mostly by new students giving them a place to ask newbie questions. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Hi Mr Peek
Sorry I have to disagree with you about the kid doing his homework.
Personally I enjoy watching the kid continueing to try and make his point. This a lot better than SC.
NY Kid keep on trucking I'm enjoying reading your posts, don't agree with them, but they are entertaining

For you sir... I'll back off. But you are going to need to encourage him to make a lot more of such posts to be of any serious entertainment value. Gosh, we don't want to wait for more than about once a day for a laugh. You know, how there is a new Dilbert each day?
I am disappointed in the fact the Abbie did not make the board. I think a fresh perspective would and will be beneficial to the USPA. I have known Abbie for quite a few years and he wants nothing but the best outcome for anything that has a parachute attached to it.
