Z-Hills Xmas Boogie Can't Post

Who's in? I arrive around 10am on the 25th into Orlando, and will rent a car, if anyone wants a ride.

Edited because spelling is a problem.

Just for general info - there are organizers for all
interests and experience levels. If someone shows up
and doesn't know anyone - ask at manifest. They will put
you in touch with people.

This time of year is huge, usually 3+ otters flying back to back. So if you feel lost, take it upon yourself to do this. You will meet and jump with people and have a good time.

Wingsuits, freefly, bellyfly - find an organizer

That was an accident and not a regular feature.

The fireworks caught it on fire. The fire marshall made
a big deal about it because of his personal conflicts.

NY eve has always been a fun event.

My estimate - 500+ people on the beer line watching
midnight jumps.

The whole burning car thing was my least favorite part of New Year, closely followed by being weathered out on the night jumps.

Word of advice: stay away from a burning car. If you're a naked Finn then you can play in the fire, otherwise it's off limits.

I am manifested for night jumps (thanks Mark for the info and TK for taking care of me this afternoon).

I am in for a dizzydotcom jump... but I am a belly girl... though I can fall unstable and on my head and call it freefly! But bring on some RW - the bigger the better! Wink

You'll be fine at ZHills. The pattern discipline is much better than Prairie! Landing area is large and there are good outs on the airport property.

Plus, more organizers than you'll know what to do with.

I really need to stop reading this thread because it's making me sad that I won't be at the Hills this year. Frown (Though I am looking forward to a quickie trip to Eloy which is all that's in the vacation budget this year).

For new people - there is a huge main landing area.

You do not have to land right in front.
As a friend once told me, "It is better to walk a long way
than to get carried a short way."
There is plenty of room, so use it.

Also, that is just the MLA. There is an easy alternate just
across the taxiway, as well as along the runway.

If you need to land off, there is usually someone to
come get you. Land safely first.

Is there a shuttle for the landing area too? If I'm remembering correctly from last time I was there, even landing on the far end of the main landing area can seem like a loong walk. Then again, maybe I'm just "spoiled" with having a small landing area at home and I'm being lazy. Wink

Maybe? LaughLaugh

On any weekend, there is organized 15-ways.
That landing area looks a lot smaller with that crowd.

Walk and be safe.

The "key" to a ride back from at the Hills is to land way out! Land too close and you get to walk. As always, it's more congested the closer you get to the packing area.

Deciding where to land, determines whether or not you walk get a ride or are carried!

Moving on to better opportunities. Come out an fun jump though. Looks like there will be some good organizing during the boogie. Danielle (from Sebastian) and Miguel (from the Ranch) will be putting on a show. I will enjoy being organized for a change. I may be tempted, however, to carve the organizers during tracking dives and whatever. BEWARE!!! Laugh See you here!

Thanks for spreading rumors, Jim. That's really shitty I think. The dropzone gave me a three month probation for being the subject of an argument and an altercation with another organizer. There are more details, but it really isn't necessary. I will tell you that I never hurt anyone in any way other than using curse words to tell the guy to get away from me.

Since the managers and owners weren't there, they gave me a probation from organizing for a few months. Same thing happened to the other guy. Quite a good decision I thought. Let's leave it here please and start talking about how FUN THE BOOGIE IS GOING TO BE!!! Cool

Sorry to break the news to you, but he's been trying to get a hold of you with no success. Jamie still remains on with East Coast Freefly and will be organizing at the boogie, no probation. Sorry if you think what I said was shitty, I tend not to see it that way at all.

Kidding aside... the weather report shows a front passing through the area on Christmas day and if it moves on it should be very nice during the weekend and most of the following week. Maybe a little cool, but that makes the campfire cosy and usually keeps the skeeters at bay.Smile

Got out to the dz after noon and hopped on load 35 - a 15-way. Then, got on load 40 for another.

Left the dz at 5 to run errands and make jello shots.

Heading back out there shortly for the party
and to watch night jumps.
