Announcing The 7th Annual St.Patrick Day Celebration Boogie.
That's right kids we have found a new home. The St.Patricks Boogie has hit the ground running in our new home of Fitzgerald,Ga. We have a wonderful location that includes a reception hall (with full kitchen),bathrooms with showers on site, approx. 40 full hookup RV slots,unlimited camping and a swoop pond. All of which is off the airport property but only a stones throw to the boarding area where you will find 3 Super Otters this year.
That's right...3 Otters,One from Skydive the Farm and two from Skydive Spaceland in Texas,cause we are going after some records this year.(please see seperate thread) We are looking to beat the long standing Ga. FS record of 64 with a 66 way. There is talk of a new Pops record and I'm looking for someone to organize a head down record.
What does all of this mean to you,the non bigway jumper,you might ask? It means that I have to build the best boogie I ever have to support 3 Super Otters. So far this includes the facilities above and also:
-Hot air ballon jumps and I'm working on a chopper -Live bands Friday & Sat. night -Huge packing tent and private tents available -Camping and RV slots on site -Nightly bonfire -Organizing for all levels (organizers TBA) -Chuck Blue(SkymonkeyOne) onsite with wingsuits -Mechanical bull Sat. night -Discount morning jumps -Maybe a keg or two -I'm working on bringing back the gear raffle -Muff Bros. on site=many fun jumps -Pink Mafia and Team Licious jumps I'm sure other groups will attend and there is much more to be announced.
The Carbones will be on site cooking for us.
Skydive the Farm will be closing for the weekend and sending us their Otter. I truely appreciate the support and hope that we can add to this list.
What do I need from you? I need you to spread the word. Starting over is...well...starting over. Our best year in Dublin we had 354 registered jumpers. We need to take it back to that size. So if you were there last year and plan to attend please bring a couple people with you.
Something else I would love to see happen is getting in touch with some of our old friends that may be missing in action. I have contacted many people I have not see in a while,you do the same please. Even if they are not jumping I would like to see my old friends.
Here is the hotel info for the closest hotels in Fitzgerald. The ones marked with an * have agreed to help my out with rooms for staff and pilots. I am still waiting to hear back on a couple so other may decide to do that.The first four on the list are all the same distance from the airport,the others I did not visit.When you make reservations please call the hotels direct and be sure to tell them you are with the skydiver group. Anyone who was there last year will tell you this place was made for boogies. I mean, Dublin was good but this place is fantastic.
Like Dublin we're far enough away from 'people' not to cause a stink.
Like Dublin the airport is huge so we can throw rafts and crap out of the plane without hitting anything (except for that one that come down by Applebee's)
-The landing area is enormous so you can land away from the bee's nest.
Like Dublin we're close to a Wal-Mart (see Spence's 'standard boogie response #3' [#1 is NO and #2 is Ask Don.])
But, unlike Dublin
-we have a genuine Latino dance club at the end of the strip (where we can go to watch Bolas try to dance) -we have a huge swoop pond for hours of hilarity (and drunken skinnydipping) -we have hotels less than a 15 minute walk from the DZ (Georgia cops, DUI, BAAAAD!) - and we have ABOUT 75 CAMPER SLOTS!! That's just awesome. And half of them are separated from the party by the huge pond for when it's time to be antisocial and sleep it off
Fitzgerald bent over backwards for us last year and if you get bored, go check out the Chicken Festival. All the roads out are jammed Sunday afternoon with festival goers so don't bother leaving early. :)

In reality I have less that 10 left. We do have other options available and I will be keeping a "waiting list". So, contact me directly if you need one. The city won't allow anyone to reserve a slot during the boogie without going through me or Chris - and he is just going to tell me anyway.

FYI - no luck buying seafood locally...a nice large woman at the local Piggely Wiggely told me "baby we ani't gots nothin but catfish and skrimps".
Mark,we seem to have more people offering to help out this year. I am hoping to spread the work around so we can all enjoy the event and no one has to stay there for two days after to clean up.
Ideally,everyone could cleanup after themselves and we wouldn't need people picking up trash. Sounds like a no brainer doesn't it.

Ask Hushpuppy and/or Psychobob if they can bring some quality seafood packed in ice. They live down near the AL/FL coast.
IDK how much I'd trust seafood after a 5-6 hour drive ... ice or not... Then again I have a sensitive tummy.
It'll be fine. My family have done that for 40 years. Load up a couple of coolers worth of fish and shrimp at the end of our beach vacation, covered with ice, and drive 7 hours home. Then repackage everything for the freezer.

I think we need to put one person in charge of copying and pasting the list before we piss of our mod.
Since I was generally maintaining the list last year, I'll volunteer for list mod duties again.
Everyone just needs to simply say that they're attending the boogie and once a week I'll update the list and add your names to it. That way we'll only get one giant post per week.

Has anyone bought one of the women's fitted tee shirts? I don't like wearing the men's shirts but usually the women's shirts are too short. I'd buy one if somebody told me they are not "mid drift" style.

DFW to ATL is probably the easiest. It's a bit of a drive from ATL to Fitzgerald though but as long as you got somebody to ride along, that drive will go by fast.

If it's very many I'm going to have to charge more for registration. If I wanted to just throw a party I wouldn't spend the money to bring in 3 Otters. Everyone keep that in mind while you're enjoying the scenery.

From what I can remember I closed down the bonfire right beside you that night.
There are many aspects of that night that are missing from my memory thanks to the Psyco punch and many jello/pudding shots that night, but I do remember being one of the last ones at the bonfire that night.

Just been waiting for someone to ask.
A 15x15 frame tent is $150 they usually throw in the side for me for free. Sizes and costs go up from there.
I supply a large packing tent, 40x60 or larger, at the event but if you will be hanging out with a few people it is nice to have a private place to put all your stuff and it can double as a place to sleep.

I have a feeling that I may regret asking this later, but is there anyone besides RastaRicanAir interested in going in on a tent?
