Hah!
The problem with airline captains is that their expenses quickly rise to exceed their ($250,000 per year) income.
And their lifestyle often includes accumulated ex-wifes. Ex-wives can be verrrrrry expensive. So there are plenty of senior airline captains who are burnt out and would like to retire, but cannot afford to give up their $250,000 income.

Mr Lyver is no more. His major assets have been seized by the receivers and he has reputedly lost his CPL because of concerns over the Fit and Proper Person requirement. The DZ at Mercer is up for a mortgagee sale. There are people in high places keen to ensure he never darkens New Zealands aviation door ever again.
