Hover over a person on the image (taking care not to move the mouse) and a "tool tip" (floating text box) should appear containing the name of the person in that slot (if known). Currently only Sector 11 is populated (and can someone from our sector please check it is correct?)
If you click on the map, it should pop up a mailto (if you have a mail client installed, intergrated and security allows, with the co-ordinates clicked in. Put the name of the person in the space provided andhit send. Sorry about the quick mailto hack. Will try and get a form submission set up so it doesn't have to go through your mail client, when I get a chance, but I'd like to start this rolling asap.
Alternatively, take note of the X and Y coordinates and PM them to me with the name of the person in that slot. Please feel free to provide the names of your internet challanged friends if you are SURE you know which slot they were in!
Are any of the World Team camera people willing to provide a larger (but lower quality/dpi, i.e. rubbish for printing) version of the image for this project?
D'oh! Fixed it. Try again. The image map editing software that I'm using doesn't seem to accept relative image locations and I forgot to change the reference when I copied the file to the server. Sorry...it was late!
Plus, rather than send me coordinates, you can also tell me the sector, row and position in the row (the anchor being position 1), if you were on a whacker. Not sure how you describe a position in the base? Perhaps use the allocation code that were used in the dive design, for both thebase, and sectors (e.g 6)

Thanks Markus, that's very helpfull! :-S Why exactly doesn't it work? Is the image still broken? Is the JavaScript updating the co-ordinates not working? Does the mouse click not create an email?
Also if you could tell me what browser you are using (and OS)...
You could still PM me with your slot number per the sector maps and I'll update from that.

Yes, it would appear that the way that Mozilla and IE handle mouse position events is different (surprise, surprise) so, for the moment, clicking to email coordinates is IE only.
However, the hover-over name "tool tips" should work in most browsers.

Thanks to Håkan from Sector 8 for providing all their named slots, Markus for providing most of Sector 10, and the odd few individuals who have mailed me, 28.75% of the slots are now named. It would be 29% but Fortson put himself in Lars' slot in Sector 8! I assume you mean x=220,y=180? Please keep them coming! Also, don't forget the camerapersons!
Thanks to Bob Wright and Paul Marcellin for providing several names, as well as a few individuals supplying their own. I now have 141 slots named (35.25%). Keep them coming please!

Thanks to a load of names from Richard Bisson as well as several individuals, I'm now up to 40.25%
Haven't had any names yet from sectors 7 (not surprising since it's the English lacking Russian sector...FeFe?), but also the German (and others) sector 5!!
Also, where's all the dropzone.com'ers? Eddie, Mar, Bill Von???

Have now filled exactly 50% of the slots! Thanks to Maryvonne for completing sector 3 (11 and 8 are also complete), to Walter for providing the first (but still only) name in sector 5, François and Sven, as well as the individuals who provided their details. Just need B53 and B25 to complete sector 10.

Thanks to a prior miscount as well as a couple of new additions, I now have 206 names!
I've updated the site so now an immediate popup appears, and this pop-up also contains extra information such as that person's country, the number of jumps they have and their slot. The url is slightly different as all of the data is now coming from a database. Take a look
I like that I'm still listed as "Sector: Unassigned" - a tribute to my climb from the dark pit of the Bench to that brilliant flying organization, Super Sector Six.
Yeah, you suck! At reading posts that is. Actually, you may not actually suck at locating yourself in the picture, since there may have been a bug that caused the wrong coordinates to come out.
I've simplified the process now so the email is generated with the slot assignment, rather than coordinates (which may be inaccurate on some browsers). Please go to the website again, click your slot and fill in your name.
Thanks!
p.s. For everyone who can and will enter their information, please also provide the names of those to the left and right of you (if appropriate) if you can. Also, there is no need to provide country, number of jumps and sector information; all of that information is garnered from the World Team website

If slots remain unclaimed long enough, can we start putting our friends and relatives in ?? You know, like those stars you can buy to name after people. It could be a lucrative franchise, Craig.
I think I could sell a whole sector to the Elks club down my street...

If you can sell my slot you can keep 10% and send me the rest.
Be safe Ed

Craig I can't get the emailing from the map to work on the one unnamed slot in sectot 11.... sector 11 slot A48 is marked as rotti, it should be Derro Thomas. The one unmarked next to Derro should be Rotti.

According to Skydiving magazine, some of our friends have declared that the adorable Ms. Tamsin Causer is a superstar, due to her WRs in RW, CRW, and the Women's 151-way record. I certainly agree with them. I tried to get on the latter of those records, but I was busted in the shower and disqualified.
However, there is a big Wingsuit event coming up soon...
Thanks to a load of information from Fyodor in the Russian sector, all the Dutch guys from Herman, a load of sector 4 from Gary Nemirovsky, as well as a load of other individuals, we are now up to over 76%!! Keep it coming guys!
Wow, thanks to Rusty from sector 2 and Burki in sector 5 we are now upto 92.25%. Well, it's more like over 93% but I have a couple of duplicate slot labels that I'm trying to sort out. Almost there; under 30 names to go!
It was hard enough getting 400 slots from people, (most of which where provided by only a few people), never mind 400 mug shots! Mind you, Bobbie might be able to supply them from the ones that were sent to World Team Head Quarters for registration! After spending an evening, cropping and resizing about 80 mugshots, I must be mad to consider doing another 400!

P.S.: I have photos from the sector sheets which where put on the wall at Udon with (nearly) all the individual photos on. Do you need them?
Thanks, but I will see if I can get them from WTHQ first.

Re: [headoverheels] Which one is you?
[In reply to]
Can't Post
In reply to:
So would that be 100% of the slots that have popup postion info, or all of the slots? There are at least 3 slots in sector 2 without such labels.
100% would be a name for every slot (and therefore a pop-up for each). However, as I mentioned in this post some of the slots have duplicate IDs which causes my database problems so they don't appear. I actually know about 6 more names, such as the ones in sector 2 you mention, that don't appear due to these slot conflicts.
Comparing with the list printed in skydiving, these are the 8 people whom I don't know where they belong:
Andrey Barabash Ruud/Marinus de Heij Leonid Kazinets Alexander Kvochur Alexey Minaev Sergey Ponkratyev Patrick Saget Genady Sidorov
Does anyone know where they went or have an email address for them?
Attached is the section with the missing people in. Alternatively, does anyone have any contact details for those people in the slots next to the unknowns i.e. Larry Clapp, Anne WOrden, Dennis Worden, Alexander Beloglazov, Didier Boignon, Sergey Romanyuk, Darel Davenport, Yuri Kireev, Lise Nansen, Kirill Samotsvetov?
(This post was edited by cpoxon on Apr 24, 2006, 2:53 PM)
Hiya Craig I think that Ruud is the red guy in the base (near Darel). I know he was one of Tony's original 20 way people and that slot would be in the base. Andrey Babarosh was also in the original 20. I think that might be him in the blue in front of Anne Worden. In any case those two slots should be Ruud and Andrey and I'm pretty sure Ruud was in red.
I think Leonid Kazinets was in Sector 7 (not an alpha who was slotted elsewhere).
Don't know about the others, sorry. Good job on this project. Pretty cool! k

I haven't heard back from WTHQ yet so I went ahead and scoured the web for the pictures I have used. Feel free to point me in the right direction for missing pictures. Links would be preferable to filling up my inbox with pictures but email will suffice if the picture doesn't exist on the web. I've been doing fairly tight crops of the faces reduced to 80x120 pixels, so if you send me a link the image should be at least this size and the face should fill most of the image.
Wow, very impressive. But you don't have my picture
BTW, when I mouse over the lower part of the formation to see the names of people in my sector, their little box shows up, but is cut off at the bottom due to me not being able to page up. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for all the hard work.

Sorry Mary, that's because I couldn't find a decent one, so please send me one! With 400 pictures to find, if a reasonable one didn't come up within a few pages on Google Image Search I moved on to the next person. There's one of you on your JFTC page but your face is quite small in it and you are looking over your shoulder.

Yeah, Sector 10 sucks so I cut them off :-P Seriously though, it's nothing you are doing. I should probably either add to space to the bottom of the page to allow it to scroll enough or adjust the position of the floating box so it doesn't disappear off the bottom of the screen. I'll have a look.

Just thought of a quick work around - go full screen (F11 in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and Opera) and that will remove all of the toolbars and borders giving you more real estate to play with. Alternatively you could increase the resolution of your screen. Or a combination of the both.
