The Dates You Have Been Waiting For (SF06)
Can't Post
For 5 years SkyFest has always been on the 3rd weekend in July. Guess what – IT STILL IS!
This year we are growing and will be bigger and better than before. We have extended the dates from July 12-17, 2006.
Skydive Spaceland has made tremendous improvements at the drop zone. Namely, a paved runway and taxiways. For pictures of their growth, go to http://www.SkydiveSpaceland.com/news.html.
While we are still focusing on RW, we have expanded the focus on freeflying as well with the Headdown Invitational Texas State Record (contact Trentalkek@yahoo.com for more information) and the introduction of the TeXXas 20-way Headdown Patch. Come out and be among the first to receive one!
The flight line consists of 9 aircraft with more to come!
Over 12 manufacturers will be on hand with demos and auction gear. Their donations go directly to the skydiving scholarship fund. We have never had vendor fees, so why would this year be any different?
Our website is currently being overhauled and should be updated soon.
We will be honoring the memory of Bob Buquor, one of the first camera men, who died in July 1966 – 40 years ago this coming SkyFest. We will be celebrating his life and accomplishments with Bill Newell, founder of the SCR (Star Crest Recipient) award, specialty SCR jumps, and as usual the world’s largest SCR ceremony. For more information about the SCR go to http://www.scr-awards.com/.
We will have many more announcements throughout the year.
Remember what SkyFest is all about: It’s ALL ABOUT YOU and giving back to the sport we love so much. SkyFest: The boogie that “Pays It Skyward”.
Thank you for your support. Any questions?
Edit:
Here is a list of the confirmed manufacturers for the event.
We will be adding seminars to the schedule as it works out.
For a complete list of events that they will be attending go to their website, I believe most of them have their schedule posted.
So far to date:
Sun Path Products Performance Designs Relative Workshop HiPerUSA Velocity Sports Equipment Alti-2 Vigil Phoenix Fly Single Helix Sky Systems Tony Suit Parachute Systems Strong Enterprises Applied Deceleration Pony Printing BirdMan more to come...
The total number of sponsors and prizes list is even greater. The prizes will be auctioned off during the event.
The website is getting updated soon. Keep an eye on it.

Based on what people actually filled out when they registered, I have:
11 - Georgia 125 - Texas
There were also people from Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Minnesota, Colorado, Florida (not counting us), Arizona, N. Carolina, New Mexico, Argentina, and Switzerland.
So... there ya' go. Proving once again that Texas is supreme.

Well, let's see now...just for me you could upgrade: - the jacuzzi with a couple of more blondes - the bar with more tequila - the bedroom with a vibrator attachment (oh wait...you already have that) - the band in the disco is plenty good and doesn't need upgrade. - the kitchen puts out a pretty mean steak but you could upgrade to include surf & turf...

You guys chatting about Kim and the fire stuff??
If so, I have no problem with her performing, last year we did run into a "scheduling" problem for Sat. night. The Dinner/awards ceremony and then Auction or the most important to us. After that the SCR ceremony falls in line. There is a band in there somewhere but that is flexible
I am all for the show!
You guys let me know what you want to do and we can work it out. We just found out that a couple is going to get married at SF on Friday and then wants a reception Friday night. They have a Hawaiian theme going on since that is their honeymoon spot, so maybe that would fit in perfect with the theme.!!!!! Might be a nice touch! I can chat with the couple tonight and see what they think. In the mean time let me know what you want.

A question: Is there any info out there about what the registration and jump fees will be for this year? I've been to the website and couldn't find anything... and yes, I realize that my recurrency jump will cost more than a normal jump...

I replied to your other thread immediately, by the time I hit send it was locked.
We are hesistant to "commit" on prices, we are still working on AC, other items and vendors. We work hard to keep the prices down, they have always been between $30 and $40 for registration, wait thats not true, the first one (2001) was at $15 I believe.
Since SF does not "belong" to a DZ we have very little control on the slots. I do know that SD Spaceland is cheaper than most TX dz's, maybe not all of them but at least ones with multiple turbines. We have a great relationship with Spaceland and I expect that the prices will be competitive. My guess is $21 at this time, no telling what fuel will do
Lets not get into "slots should be cheaper at boogies" in this thread, not that you, mnealtx would. Just trying to keep the thread on track.
Hope this helps and we will see you soon!! Maybe next time you should include the "d" word in your post, I do see her point in the location of your thread. I probably would have moved it too. Either way thats not my say, the mods have their hands full so we need to respect that.

I'm sorry Andy. It wasn't intentional. I want everyone to chime in and add themselves. Rookie was on the other list that got locked, so I only moved him over.
You know you're my "favorite Andy." I would never leave you out on purpose.

Rookie, your Sam is too big! It would hide too much. i have a smaller canopy that i won't be jumping that i could donate.

Didn't we have barely legal and barely dressed bartenders last year? Is that close to female strippers? And GQ_Jumper threatened to strip more than once (although I know several girls who wouldn't try to discourage it). It looks like both sides are covered.

Absolutely!! A brief 30 second conversation with Duh at Skyfest forever changed me and made me the Boogie Whore that I am today. Her great wisdom and insight inspired me in so many ways.
For that I will always be grateful...
And I stand by my original Response...."Was that an Offer?"
Do you think we can get that one shut down and keep the list here? I hear people are pm'ing c spence for info on SF and that aint right
chris will tell everyone that they can only make naked jumps...oh wait that may not be sooo bad..
Let me get this straight. All you do is bitch because all of the Skyfest threads get locked, then I post one in the right forum that stays and you want it locked.I give up.

I'll be prepaying mine/boinky's registrations for Skyfest (sent you a pm about it). In the (hopefully) unfortunate event I can't make it, just put my registration fee into the general fund for the recipient of this year's award.

That is so great of you for the possible donation! Hopefully you will be there, but if not, we really appreciate your support. It is amazing so far this year, we have had two other donations from individuals supporting scholarships for other jumpers. One of them was a winner from last year!
It touches my heart when this happens, after 5 years of doing our own little thing, it seems that SF is really starting to catch on!
I had a nightmare the other day. Like 700 people showed up to SkyFest on a Thursday, so I walked up to Steve Boyd (DZO) and said you are welcome....I am going home!!!
That would actually be awesome, but.....the amount of work we put into is for say 300 plus so I would want to be prepared for a larger crowd, so we can offer the best service we can for everyone.
Oh boy, I am starting to get nervous about this years event. Hope we can keep up.
Thank you to everyone for the past, present and future, you are what makes SF so great!!!

All but a couple of the hybrids I was on were good-to-go.
Not getting on the FF'ers but of the ones that went to shit was when hangers didn't all get down together at the same time and turned the base over or under.
One of them was funny..the hangers on one side got down but the other side didn't and the entife belly base flipped over...we hung on and flew on our 4-way star on our backs for about 10-15 seconds before we got to laughing so hard we had to let go.

Not having to pay a $70 reg fee for starters! Great vendors, gear for sale and auction that goes to a great cause. Great vibes, jumps, fast aircraft, great after dark fun, killer swoop pond, I could go on for a while but will stop now. I went for the first time last year and will go every year if possible. Will be there the entire week this year. Hope to see you there.

Cheers.
Bigway, thank you for your interest in our event.
here is a similar answer I gave a while ago in another thread http://www.dropzone.com/...post=2110733#2110733 This was an up jumper inquiring about our event, but it will answer some of your questions.
Our new website will go live today with updated info. If you get a few minutes check it out. The new look is silver not the red and black like the old one that is still up. Should happen by this afternoon.
Our event averages 250 people a year (expected to more this year with all the fuss) One other thing unique about this boogie is that we will do more skydives in the 3-4 days of jumping than most other events. We average 2500 jumps in 3 days. Our event operates on a "schedule" thus allowing for more jumps and more chances for people to play in all events.
Again thank you for your interest and hope to see you there.
J

What's the rule on second generation? Trent qualifies, but I'm first generation. Am I in or out?
For the actual 2nd gen jump you are out but we want to do a parent / kid jump too.
Our rules are like this, 2nd gen- a real second gen is "born" into the sport
our definition today is: a person who's parents or parent has or is jumping. We kind of "allow" a one time tandem or AFF parent for the sibling to qualify. This one is debatable
If the parent was an "active" jumper in the military that counts too.
But we can also do a "missing" man parent with the sibling jump too, for those parents that are not with us, this would make you eligible for that as well. I gues like a father son jump, or mother daughter...
need to contact you on the womens stuff, pm coming J

On top of it all being for a great cause, i have it on good authority that there will also be some scantily clad pink mafia girls playing with fire!! Throw in some free beer and you have quite possibly the boogie of the season. BE THERE!!

If some of you don't have extra cash, there's always the option of either: a. donating something that you have lying around (old altimeter? Old jumpsuit? old weight belt?) to the auction b. bidding high at the auction

I have to say that the response we have had this year is fantastic!!! It's weird how people work and react at different times. This is our sixth year doing this and it's people like yourselves that keep us going. Every little bit creates a great opportunity for someone else.
Thank you all, for everything, it really does make a difference.
