John, I hate to disappoint you but line burn occurs frequently on ram air canopies. I patch numerous canopies every year;probably install about 100-150 patches if not more. Most of these are line burn induced.
The following just happens to be a picture that I have on my "traveling' laptop.

It is very clear that this is line burn.
