best place to learn to jump in Indiana, great vibe

The laid-back Cessna DZ with the best staff in the midwest. The three 182's are kept in great shape (the DZO is an FAA mechanic). Fun jumpers will love it here--no cliques, everyone is welcome. There's even a bunch of Crew dogs who are always looking for someone else to run into. First timers can be assured that their safety and enjoyment are foremost in their instructor's mind. Don't like the student program at the "other" DZ? Transfers welcome! These guys will treat you right.

A friend and I travelled from Indianapolis to attend a Crew camp that we discovered was re-scheduled for July. My hotel room was paid in advance and non-refundable and the weather looked good so we went anyway, expecting to just spend a couple of days doing Crew by ourselves. Nothing of the sort happened. John Hart, the DZO, and Travis, one of his instructors, spent the entire day jumping with us, giving us private Crew lessons, essentially for free! My friend, an experienced Crew Dog, learned some new tricks, and I, a pup, got 14 docks in four jumps! Awesome!
I've heard many good things about Start Skydiving, and many reasons why it is such a great place. I think it's outstanding because of John Hart.
We'll be back! If you live within a day's drive of Cincinnati you gotta check out this DZ!

Tiny DZ with a big heart

Air Indiana Skydiving Center Rated 5 by: Croc on 2007-08-26

Did two night jumps there last night, plus one earlier to get aquainted with the landing area. Owners Terry and George have created a little gem of a DZ on a shoestring budget. But there is no scrimping on services. Besides instruction they offer things many bigger DZs don't--like regular night jumps and get-wet actual water training. Well worth the drive to find a DZ that caters to the fun jumper. I will definitely be back!

Got three freefly coach jumps from Pip and was sitting in two jumps! Friendly staff and rigger, easy drive from Tampa Airport. If you're in central Florida this is a must jump DZ!

What a great DZ

Skydive Greene County Rated 5 by: Croc on 2004-07-25

Pros: Planes, packing and landing areas and people
Cons: none!

I've jumped at this DZ twice recently, four times out of a Super Otter (awesome!--a six second takeoff on grass!) and four times out of a Casa (fun!) Very large landing area which is great for a low timer like me. I flat pack, so I apprciated the large packing area. The personel were very friendly. The DZO, Jim West, saw a couple of faces he did not recognize and came right over and introduced himself and welcomed us to his excellent faciliy. Very classy! And Treeboy, the local rigger, patched a small hole in my topskin for two bucks. We all had a great time. We'll be back, for sure.

Great DZ for newbies

Jerry's Skydiving Circus Rated 5 by: Croc on 2004-05-23

Pros: Friendly, knowlegeble, fun-loving staff and lots of experienced jumpers
Cons: none

I came here to learn how to pack after I finished all the other requirements for my A license at another dropzone. Everybody has been great. I've done four ways with jumpers who have thousands of jumps. No cliques, no skygods, no one left out. I feel like every jump is a free coach jump. This is my home DZ now! As a postscript, the other DZ offered packing classes for fifty dollars a pop; here I learned to pack from some folks who have been in the sport long enough to have remembered the invention of nylon, and they never charged me a nickel.
