Pros: Small DZ atmosphere, A/C carpeted packing area, nice people, no stress
Cons: Small DZ :-), 3500' landing elevation, can't always fill a load of experienced jumpers

Red Rock Skydiving is just over 8 years old and is on it's 3rd set of owners. So if you have been here before and had any kind of bad experience, I urge you to stop back in and meet Karl and Sharron.

With a steady tandem operation, you can catch a load most days of the year (weather pending of course). While there are quite a few local jumpers, it isn't always possible to fill the plane. The staff is very experienced and promote safe behavior.

The Cessna 206 is turbocharged and climbs quickly to altitude. The pilots are top notched and the views are spectacular. Some of the cool things you can spot on the way to altitude include;

Tuzigoot (a 1000+ year old Native American pueblo)
The Red Rock formations of Sedona
Boyton Canyon
Humphries Peak (the highest point in AZ)
Lowell Observatory (where Pluto was discovered)
On a clear day you can see all the way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

If you are traveling through the area and are looking for a nice relaxing DZ this is your place. Don't forget to bring your logbook and current USPA membership.

Blue Skies

I was visiting the area and decided to sky dive on a whim. It was my second tandem jump and it was soo much fun. My first jump had been in Vermont so doing a dive in Arizona over the beauty of the Sedona senery was fantastic. The staff was so friendly and Professional, my jump went really well. I enjoyed the whole experience! If Im ever back in the area I will definately do it again. I highly recommend them!

I love this place. I'm very lucky to live so close. The staff is incredible. When you become one of the local fun jumpers it is very evident you are a member of the family.

The views don't get any better and the fast landings are super fun!

Highly recommended!!

  Pros: The view
Cons: 3,500' MSL landings are tough if you haven't done one before

I went there over thanksgiving and was very impressed in the operation. The facility was nice, very clean and newer, and the first thing they did was introduce themselves and give me an overview of the DZ - While completely checking me and my equipment out (AAD, re-pack card, logbook).

While it sounds weird, I like the way they went about ensuring my safety, going over my gear, and discussing my experience. A real effort was made to "get to know me".

On their part, I was shown the landing area and shown the various possible patterns based on expected winds, and it was continually stressed upon me that landing at 3500' MSL was much different (FASTER) than landing at 150' MSL... and the little bird in my head convinced me to make my first-jump there w/o my video/stills camera (as much as I wanted pictures of the views).

The Cessna ride to altitude was nice and we flew over the red-rocks of Sedona (and I got some nice stills from the videographer filming the tandem on my load).

We got to about 10K MSL, and coming into land was, as much as I tried to prepare myself, WAY WAY faster than I've ever done - after putting red dirt all over my suit (faceplant), the DZO says to me, "we tell people it's fast, but almost everyone here does that on their first landing". Best thing I did was not take my video equipment on the jump...

Nice people, great DZ, and I'll be back whenever I'm in the area.
