Kutztown Skydiving Center
Pros:
Family atmosphere
Cons:
Long turn around

At this dropzone you quickly become a member of the family. Unlike the big dropzones, you get throughly trained and a comprehensive debrief, so an excellent place to learn. They really care about your learning and safety and so spend a lot of time with each student, rather than just filling the USPA square. Experienced jumpers are welcomed too, and there are usually others to jump with, and all are eager to jump with you, help you, or learn from you.
The downside is that it is a single C-182 operation, and so long turn around times. It is a beautiful area, with the dropzone on the end of a grass runway, lots of outs, and the local farmers are very nice so if you land out they usually bring you back before the dropzone staff can get out to find you. The locals often come out to watch and have a picnic on the weekends.

I left a larger, less personal DZ to call Kutztown home instead. Kutztown is extremely safety oriented, both the plane and rigs are cared for well. Any problems are remedied immediately in order to prevent long term issues. As a packer, every minor repair that has needed to be made was done promptly by the master rigger/DZO without ever me ever needing to push for it.
Jumpers truly watch out for each other at Kutztown, experienced jumpers spend as much time as possible working with newer jumpers. Virtually all of the staff makes as many 'fun' jumps with low time jumpers as possible when they are not working, which makes for a great learning curve among the up jumpers.
Marc and Theresa, the DZOs are extremely welcoming. Although the DZ itself doesn't have lodging, they are always welcoming to their home and the grass around it for camping as needed. They treat people extremely well and fairly.
I've been at Kutztown this entire season and it has been a rewarding and educational experience for me :-)

Kutztown is definitely the place to go if you live anywhere neat there. They have a very friendly and inviting atmosphere, you are part of the family from the moment you set foot on the DZ or even call them on the phone. Marc and Theresa are always available for questions and are both very knowledgeable. Even with my low experience level (12 jumps) I never felt out of place or "snubbed" by a more experienced jumper, everyone there is more than happy to talk with me and answer questions. Emergency procedures and safety issues are constantly revisited just to make sure everyone is as safe as we can be. I have no problems at all with Kutztown and it will be my home DZ for years to come. I am very glad i decided to make my first jump there and working through the AFF course was tons of fun.

Being a skydiver requires more than just skydiving. Throughout the AFF program I have seen that at Kutztown skydiving center it is more than just a business, in fact, it is more like a family. Marc and Theresa are constantly professional, while at the same time encourage an atmosphere in which students are challenged and encouraged by both instructors and fellow skydivers. Any level from any location is welcomed into the family that has been built in Kutztown. I fully support anyone interested in skydiving to consider Kutztown skydiving center as the premeir option in the tri-state area, even if it means a longer drive.

Kutztown Skydiving Center
Pros:
The best instruction one will find anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Cons:
Currently limited to jumping on the weekend; otherwise, there is nothing at all to warrant anything negative.

I began taking skydiving lessons in the beginning of June [2005]. From my initial inquiry call and continuing forth to my coach jumps (i almost have my A license), the instructors and staff have been nothing but friendly, kind, and welcoming. This is a place I (or any other skydiver) can call home. The instuctors, as well as, the other jumpers are genuinely concerned about each other, no matter what an individual's level may be.
As for instruction, one cannot ask for a better place to learn. After completing the program, a person has the knowledge and confidence to jump safely for many years to come. Unlike other dropzones, the instructors here take the time to throughly train, practice, and debrief each student on every jump. The individualized attention is unsurpassed; this is what truly sets Kutztown Skydiving Center apart from anywhere else.
During my struggle through the IAD program, words of encouragement were all that fell upon my ears. They never let me quit on myself. One thing is certain: the instructors never give up on a student!
AFF, IAD, and Tandem are offered, and the student is able to choose one of these methods indepently after receiving information about each. As for pricing, one would say that the costs are competitive and fair, with discounts available. Additionly, the services of a master rigger are available right here.
Overall, Kutztown Skydiving Center has exceeded my expectations exponentially. If anyone is considering making a jump, he or she can rest assured that competent, safety oriented professionals are taking care of him or her.

Kutztown Skydiving Center
Pros:
great student instruction. fun staff. large landing area
Cons:
none significant
The instructors are great there. I took my AFF course there, and had a great experience learning there. Kutztown is now my main DZ, because the people there are friendly and helpful and don't seem to mind jumping with a newbie like myself with only 52 jumps.
The landing area is a large field (half corn, half hay) that is easy to spot from the sky. There are several outs (other fields) right nearby theirs, in case of being way off target.
It's a small DZ, but it's a lot of fun there, and would recommend it for anyone wanting to learn, do a tandem or experienced jumpers.

Review of:
Kutztown Skydiving Center
Pros:
Excellent Safety and Superior Instruction
Cons:
None worth mentioning.
I could not have asked for a better drop zone to learn how to skydive. Currently I have 51 jumps. The constant reminders on safe procedures and personal attention have made me understand how safe skydiving can be. The instruction provided is no doubt second to none. If you’re a student or prospective student there is no better place to go. If you’re experienced, come out and have some fun with us. I am proud to call Kutztown my home drop zone and if you come anywhere near here and don't jump at Kutztown, you’re really missing out.
