I showed up at long island skydiving center by mistake, I brought a friend out to do a tandem, I knew right away this was the wrong dz, no turbine aircraft, tiny, scary landing area and definitely not an old navy base.

When I realized we were at the wrong dz, they still tried to get my friend to do a tandem out of their 182, even though our reservation was for skydive long island, plus as a fun jumper I'm not even allowed to jump there. Then, they wouldn't even give us direction to the other dz, claiming they had no idea where it was. Meanwhile it's only 5 or 6 miles away located on a 3000 acre airport with 10000 foot runway.

I will never, ever reccomend that place to anyone after the way we were treated.

When we did get to skydive long island, they were not surprised by our story, apparently this type of thing happens all the time when sdli's customers mistakingly show up to long island skydiving.

The staff at sdli was extremely courteous, the caravan and king air are two of the nicest jump ships I've ever seen, the view (of the Atlantic also btw) is out of this world and you don't stop at 9000 feet. Do yourself a favor and check out Skydive Long Island

Yesterday I went for the first time to the Skydive Long Island Drop zone. Go there only by car (not like me by bus and by "foot"). The Drop zone is located in an old Navy Based, surrounded by gorgeous scenery (forest, beaches, and ocean), but far away from pubblic transportation. The better you go highest, the fabulous becomes the view.
All the drop zone members are very friendly and helpful. I had to do the recurring training for license A. The instructors are very well prepared and they give you the needed theory and ground exercise. The facility is small but fine! Unfortunately I missed a good shower, after a hot day like yesterday. But that is a normal extra... Good Job Skydive Long Island!!!! Thanks

This place specalizes in the the first time tandem. Small drop zone atmosphere allows the instructors to be very personal and spend quality time with the students.
Has to be some of the most beautiful freefall scenery in the world. Entire staff is friendly and fun and they fly one of the sweetest cessna's I have seen in my skydiving career.

I went here for my second tandem jump and What a great experience. I did my first tandem jump a few years ago and found this place here on dropzone.com when I decided to take the plunge again. Super nice people who made me feel very safe and relaxed. The Instructor was a barrell of laughs as well as reassuring. My first tandem that I did in California I had to slide on my butt, this one was a feather lite stand-up. Definite thumbs up for anyone wanting to do their first jump.
