This place has a ton of potential. Currently they are flying a 182 but a fast climbing 206 will be flying in a couple of months. This is a private airport so no other planes to worry about. The staff is knowledgable, safety oriented, and make you feel at home. No sky gods here. Great place to learn. There is a loft for after hour relaxation and air conditioned packing. What else do you need?

Review of: Ground Rush Skydiving Club
Pros: Small dz atmosphere, close-knit family, affordable instruction, Sl program not as stressful
Cons: small plane; sometimes have to wait longer between loads; newer dz - more obstacles and is closer to hwy; would not have

I found Ground Rush Skydiving Club through a friend just after I began skydiving. When I first started training with them, they were located at the Beaumont Municipal Airport. What immediately made me nervous was all the other planes that took off/landed there, and the large amounts of concrete I would have to avoid landing on. Despite all of that, I persevered and graduated from the Static Line program in December of 2005.

On January 7, I made my first jump at our new location in Nome, TX. It's a little town just outside of Beaumont. It used to be a crop dusting airport. Well, so much for the concrete issue, our runway isn't even paved! It's all grass. It's an absolutely awesome place to jump. Beautiful country scenery; a far cry from the chemical plants we would veiw while gliding to earth in Beaumont.

As a newbie who is somewhat comfortable under canopy, I love jumping there. However, as a student just beginning, I believe the close proximity to hwy 90 would have scared me off. Hopefully I am a rare case, because being close to the hwy would seem like a great idea for business.
