A Decent Place to Make a Descent...

Flying Tiger Sport Parachuting Center Rated 4 by: cassella on 2014-02-17

Pros: Low-Key and Friendly
Cons: Facilities are limited

Flying Tigers is easy to get to and a welcoming DZ for transient jumpers like me. Within 30 minutes of getting there, my credentials were checked and we were climbing to exit altitude. Jim Burris runs a professional and friendly operation.

Very small DZ with a group of skydiving friends that run a friendly DZ and teach people to skydive.

Pros: Good People and Great Location
Cons: Small Planes and Limited facilities

If you are hooked on big planes and big formations, this is not going to be your DZ. If you are in the area and looking to make a few jumps with good people and younger jumpers eager to learn then you will not find much better. The airport is in the upper left corner of SC. That means moutian views and lakes at the start of the Blue Ridge. Jim and the crew spend most of their weekends teaching students (Mostly from Clemson University) to jump and just enjoying the day. I had my first cut away there 8 years ago on jump number 120 and had a nice out to land in, and a ride waiting by the time I could pick up my free bag that landed 100yds away.(Pin Lock)I have run into Jims students at Skydive Atlanta, Cross Keys, and the home DZ at Raeford.

Don't forget to pull!

Flying Tiger Sport Parachuting Center Rated 5 by: highflyer828 on 2003-06-10

Pros: Dedicated people, near Clemson University, cheap jump prices
Cons: small plane, barbed wire fence

FTSPC is a great dropzone to learn skydiving by static line progression. It has dedicated jumpmasters and a number of available pilots. It's also a great place to relax even if you can only make one jump in a day. There is a great view from the plane and less than 5 minutes away there are some good restaurants in the city of Clemson.

Great for students

Flying Tiger Sport Parachuting Center Rated 5 by: dixieskydiver on 2003-05-16

Pros: Two 182's available, beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding lakes
Cons: recently installed barbed wire fence around airport

Our collegiate skydiving club does all of our training and jumping here. Great, friendly atmosphere. Large grass landing strip and airport facilities are very nice. Looking forward to the planned DZ expansion in the near future.
