I have been in the sport for many years and visited DZ's across the US and overseas. Skydive Alaska is small but makes up for it with great people and good vibe. The flight to altitude is the best I have ever seen! The tandem masters are professional and courteous. The camera guys are outstanding! Suzette and Bob are really great people for the student and fun jumper alike. Like the first review notes, the office is still located away from the landing area. Bring a chair and a cooler - the DZO manifests the up jumpers in and around the tandem loads making sure everyone gets to jump. The equipment is well maintained and safety is the priority of the day but FUN is the order of the day.

Considering the summer started off as having nothing, there is very little to complain about. The DZOs have done everything in their power to make this dropzone work out and occur. Due to some temporary politics there are shuttle vans to take people to and from the landing area, but the landing area is very long with streamers in it, in order to tell what direction the wind is going. The DZOs have done everything to make this an enjoyable place for both students, and experienced skydivers. They have even gone out of their ways to accomidate skydivers from out of state to make jumps into the glacier. With two planes flying it's possible to do some "bigger" formations, and possible to get more jumps in. With the sun not setting til later, jumping goes on until it gets to dusk.
There are also alternative landing
areas in case clouds cover the main landing area. This DZ has thought of everything to keep skydivers happy. The packing area is an indoor carpetted area, that is nice for the canopy. There are beverages and some food available for purchase for day activities. Everyone is very helpful, and encouraging, and willing to help new people, them being first time skydivers, to thousands of jumps skydivers.
Everyone feels welcomed, and is appreciated. Going to altitude is gorgeous with mountains on all sides, and depending on the pilot sometimes flying in the mountains going to altitude occurs. It's a wonderful flight, and well worth the skydive, and worth a video as well. I definitely rank this dropzone as an A++++++++++ in effort, hospitality, planes, people, and everything inbetween!!!
