We will never go this dropzone and we definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone uses this for tandem.
I brought my friend here to do his first tandem. The dropzone I usually go to was booked as were all the others in the vicinity. That should have been my first red flag.
On the phone when I asked to book, they were extremely friendly. After we got there and paid the fees, they were so different that it left us scratching our heads.
The (male) tandem instructor who sets up the jumpsuits and harnesses made my (male) friend put the harness on backwards and said to him, "You might like to face the instructor because you'll think he's cute." He used Spanish words and told him that we speak English in this country (my friend has an accent but we aren't Hispanic.
When my friend got out to the loading area, the videographer decided to change and take another tandem student even though he already took a "special envelope" we're supposed to give (filled with money) them then denied taking it and told us we must have lost it and we have to buy a new one if we want to jump!!! He told the tandem master who was assigned to my friend that he has to choose another person because we need to pay again. He didn't want us to be vocally adamant so he put his hand in our faces to tell us to be quiet.
I saw it in his helmet that he didn't put on yet and pointed it out and he pretended like he didn't realise he took it. I believed him, but after all that happened, I can't believe it looking back.
The new tandem master he got was cool but the first videographer decided to stick with my friend.
Upon landing, we waited for the photos/video for 1 hour even though they told us 10 minutes. After waiting for 20 minutes, we went looking for the videographer then went to manifest and manifest yelled at us that it wasn't their problem. We asked politely.
We finally got the DVD and CD an hour later and watched the DVD. It was ok. We didn't bring a laptop with us and there was no where to check the CD but didn't think twice about it. When we got home we found the PICTURES WERE NOT OURS. We immediately called them and they denied we ordered pictures even though we paid! We said we had a DVD so the pictures were included but they kept on denying everything.
The videographer called and said it was a mystery to him "how we got our hands on someone else's CD and we should bring it back since it's not ours." as if we stole it- why would we want anyone else's pictures. Eventually, we spoke to a "manager" and she said she'd straighten things out and FedEx them.
The next day, the videographer called and said they didn't have a budget for FedEx, it would be mailed (our friend was leaving the country in 2 more days and they knew it). He promised to email the photos. Of course, no emails came.
My husband then called them and they screamed that it's our problem between us and the videographer, not us and them. My husband reminded them that we did pay through them and legally, they are responsible for the videographer's breach. They said we were harassing and threatening them and told us not to call again and hung up on his face. My husband promptly called back promising that he'll have to take them to small claims if they don't give us what we paid for.
They claimed we couldn't prove that our friend had jumped because we didn't have a receipt (we paid cash and they didn't give a receipt). We reminded them that the DVD is proof and that if any auditor came to audit them, they'd need to find the waiver my friend signed and dated, and if they didn't it means they have unsafe business practices. They screamed at my husband again that he needs to speak with the videographer- but they refused to give us a time that he'd be around nor his number or email address.
It wasn't until a letter was sent from an attorney's office that they responded- politely. 30 photos were sent via email (none of my friend landing, only of him in the sky). They were all horrible quality- which wouldn't have mattered if they honored the CD in the beginning or were just polite.
We will never go this dropzone and we definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone uses this for tandem.

In response to the previous review, I would like to clear up some skewed and falsified information stated. I made a jump the day referenced from 06/29/08 at Sky’s the Limit. As we all know in skydiving, just like in any aviation/ sky related sport the weather; winds, clouds, etc, are a crucial determining factor. The weather is what either permits or prohibits us from making a safe and successful jump. Hence the day we were on a weather hold for practically the whole day. As soon as the winds let up, which was an hour and a half before sunset, we were cleared to get up in the air, if we so chose to do so.
“Our jump was put off due to winds, until the very end of the day, but the wind never let up, it felt as though they just wanted to get one more plane up before close of business, since they can't take your money unless they get you to jump.”
First of all the weather holds are in no way shape or form a money issue for the DZ. Lets take a second and think about this. Why was there a weather hold in the first place if the winds never changed? Why were there 3 otter loads, flown at the end of the day?
Accidents do occur, it is the nature of a sport where you are two miles above the earth and step out into the sky.
I remember the day quiet clearly. Most specifically I remember being told that due to the weather; winds and clouds, we had two options, either wait it out or reschedule our planned jumps. Blue skies were not in sight. . Waiting it out: hardly a push to get money. It is a sad distortion to confuse customer service with a just trying to get a plane up sole for the money. Although most people rescheduled we waited it out. Anxious to get up in the air just like you must have been. My point is that the choice to jump that day was yours just as the choice to make a jump that day was mine.
Further more in reference to your conversation with the ambulance driver I believe that due to the shock and injury you endured there may have been some miscommunication with the ambulance driver. It’s simply not true that the ambulance has been driven to the DZ “Scraping people up four weeks in a row”. I was present at the DZ for those “four weeks”, working on my AFF. I had not witnessed or heard of a single injury that month and most certainly not one with an ambulance involved.
There is further confusion relating to the instructors, there joking around is to help put you at ease. Everyone takes in information differently and maybe after your extended time in pain your reflection has become distorted due to the bitterness of being that one who did get hurt “in the casual thrill seeking but it won’t be me” mentality. Invincibility is a tainted mind state, which will eventually hurt or kill you. I am truly sorry that this happened to you and as a witness of your whole incident I get where your anger and frustration may be coming from, but then again you have not been fair in your statement. Sky’s the Limit performed in accord to all regulations. FAI and USPA and they gave you the opportunity to reschedule your jump.
I am not trying to bash you, but I feel as though you’re in the wrong. It’s easy to blame the drop zone; instructors, DZO, etc, for your accident. Do you think that you are the only person to have ever been hurt in this sport? Because to point your finger and make false allegations leads me to believe you might.
“Be safe; stay on the ground unless you trust who your worth and the weather is perfect.” You stated. I definitely agree with you there but how about this, “Stay on the ground and if you’re not feeling safe, ask some questions to clear up your concerns. E.g. the reason for the long weather hold, why was it safe to jump then and not before. Especially if in your eyes the weather never changed. As a walking upright human being responsible for yourself you’re presented with decisions and choices. You chose to jump, you got hurt, as many people have before you in this sport, and more so outside the realms of skydiving. But don’t go making false accusations about the dropzone. Warning people off when in reality you’re accident happened due to factors outside of the DZ’s control.
If it wasn’t for STL I would have never discovered and pursued my career in magical sport of skydiving. Ever since I made my first jump here at Sky’s the Limit I was hooked. I then proceeded to visit several other DZ’s on the east coast. None of which helped me take the next step to AFF or AFP. Watching over my first tandem video again one night brought me back to that 1st tandem jump day. I thought of not just the thrill of the ‘first’ dive itself but the security, safety, confidence, and trust I felt with the staff there. You can pretty much guess the rest. I finished my AFF Aug/Sep of ’07, got through the A license proficiency card Nov. 3. (Looking at my log book right now). I’m now about to hit my first 3-digit number, 100.
All I have to say that through all the trials and triumphs, STL was there for me. They were not only my teachers/instructors, but my mentors which helped me get on the path to what I now know is my calling, purpose, and ultimate goal of enlightened state of consciousness.
Sky’s the Limit is my support system, my refuge, and now my family. I only hope to be able to reciprocate/repay them, for all the knowledge and ability that they instilled in me. The manner in which they cater to a jumper whether it be a tandem or pro jumper is utmost proficiency and expertise. I can not name a single individual here who “lacks professionalism” here. If anything it is you sir who lacks professionalism with printing such childish bitter antics.

Think very carefully before skydiving and choosing a drop zone. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but speaking for myself, I figured, "sure people get hurt, but it won't be me". I made the casual decision to do a little thrill seeking and go with friends on a random weekend, and 8 months later I still suffer constant back pain and was out of work for 2 1/2 months. As I was taken off the field to a hospital, the ambulance driver commented that they had "scraped somebody off the field here four weeks in a row". Maybe this is what happens in skydivng everywhere, but seemed like a lot of accidents to me. Do your diligence and be careful. I'm sure its a great sport, but not all drop zones and all instructors are created equal. As a total novice, you are literally placing your hands in the life of a total stranger. You are deferring all of your judgement to them, so make sure they are professional and make you feel safe. I didn't feel safe here. The instructors were fooling around and messing with each others shutes as they packed before I jumped. We were given no verbal instructions on what to expect until we were all ready up in the airplane. Our jump was put off due to winds, until the very end of the day, but the wind never let up, it felt as though they just wanted to get one more plane up before close of business, since they can't take your money unless they get you to jump. Be safe; stay on the ground unless you trust who your with and the weather is perfect.

There are a lot of dropzones that have nice planes and good landing area. Only a few provide a soft packing areas so at the end of the day, you wouldn't need a knee surgery. This a great spot for experienced jumpers.

I trained at STL in Newton, NJ back in 2004, where they had just a few trailers and port-a-potties. That was a good dropzone.
This new one in East Stroudsburg is in a different class altogether -- it's fantastic. Top-notch facilities, huge, well-kept landing area with little turbulence, excellent spots, padded floors on the aircraft (how cool is that?), friendly, helpful and professional staff, very efficient packers, fantastic scenery...the list goes on.
Then, if you're not jumping, there's plenty to keep you entertained: a pool table, a football, a soccer ball to kick around, a pinball machine, and -- I sh.t you not -- a treadmill.
All that and it's the closest DZ to NYC.
Also, if you're thinking of doing a tandem, they make the best tandem videos I've ever seen.
Not to mention that the place is very clean, nice packing area, large hangar, huge beer refrigerators for when the jumping is done...if you go, you will see that the staff takes a lot of pride in this place and it really shows -- truly a top-notch operation.
I'll be going back there often -- I'm sold on this place. STL rocks!

The best version of sky's the limit yet. I think it is V3.0 or something. I really do like jumping there. The views are fenominal, the people are super sweet, it seems like the kind of DZ that cators to fun jumpers, and it is less remote than some other places. Unfortunately, the word has yet to get out about this place. Once it does, it will probably take off. The people are really great and they are super-cool to visitors and such. You open up your canopy and can see the Delaware Water Gap right there in front of you - that makes a pleasant ride down. Landing area is rocking. Can we get some big-way events at that place? That would be cool. Atmonauti lives on - I'm outta here.

Just a quick note of thanks for a awesome experience this past Friday,
October 6th.
Given how quickly we came down (after a long build up), and the nerves
which were still settling, I did not immediately realize how much your
tandem masters and videographer added to the experience.
Shay did a great job at explaining what was going to happen, joking around
at the right times to ease the tension, going through the checklist
(verbally) a number of times to make sure we were connected and straps were
tight - all which added to a sense of professionalism and control which
made me feel more comfortable.
In addition the encouragement that I received from Sam and Shay during and
after the jump added to my sense of accomplishment and satisfaction with
the experience. The free fall was blast - and it was really cool to see
Sam flying around us taking the video/pictures! The pics and video were awesome - money well spent!
When I came down I indicated that it was my once and only jump - however
after reflecting on it over the weekend I will likely try it again in the
future. That way I can enjoy the experience a little more as my nerves
will not be so much of a focus.
In all it was a lot of fun and a great experience!
Great job to the Team - especially Shay and Sam!

My husband, another friend, and I made a spontaneous trip out to jump on a Tuesday that he was out 'sick'. Even on a Tues, we were still able to make one cessna and 5 otter jumps.
The view is beautiful, pilot extremely knowledgeable and eager to keep jumpers happy, and we've never felt so at home so quickly at another dropzone.
Tandem instructors seemed to have great rapport with students. AFF instructors set their students at ease well and provided a positive learning atmosphere for them. Other fun jumpers were happy to get in the sky and jump with all of us.
I only wish that it was closer to home so we could visit more. We will definitely be back, and we both have already recommended this DZ to several friends.

I'm used to big, sprawling Florida dzs and the "resorts" like Perris & Chicago, but there's a lot to be said for the smaller DZs like Skys The Limit.
Skys The Limit maintains a busy school & tandem business that runs VERY efficiently (I was there for a "slow" weekend & 4 TMs & 3 packers managed 40+tandems without breaking a sweat one of the days). There's a core group of local jumpers that are very outgoing and not clique-ish at all, in addition to jumpers from other area dzs that stop by from time to time.
The Twin Otter had impressive turnaround times and very good jumpruns. They've got spotting dialed in there. The dz itself is located on a good size airstrip that's home to some helicopter school & the local Medi-Vac, otherwise plane traffic is pretty quiet.
Facilities-wise, the hangar looks like it's being built-out slowly but surely. There are some good size classrooms, bathrooms, smooth creeping areas with Alie n creepers & lockers were being built while I was there. Wrestling mats were rolled up in a corner but I was told they were going to be set up for more general packing & lounging areas.
The staff was very approachable and friendly. They're clearly a very hard working bunch but laid-back enough to enjoy themselves and the fun jumpers.
All-in-all, a very positive vibe and you really can't beat the views. I'll be back whenever my travels allow!
