Weston has really turned it around!
Great aircraft, great manifest, great vibe.Lots of experienced friendly skydivers and instructors who are happy to help a newbie.Cool tracking dives, load organising and wicked wingsuit flocks with Fordy! what a legend! They've also got a brand new bunk room so no need to rough it in atent anymore. Will definatly be back in 2007.

The old RAFSPA has been handed over to civilian management on weekends. We have a new gear store, a new club house and the same excellent packing hanger and creeping facilities, same excellent camping grounds, sameexcellent coaches and training staff. A part of me misses being a guest on a military dz, now I am a member of a civie organisation who is a guest on a military dz. It is a change but mostly even military members are warming to it. The civie management are long term RAFSPA jumpers. It's the best landing area in the UK, and the training equals anything in the Europe. It was previously thought that the club vibe was clicky - this seems to have opened up but is the same party crowd. Many of our dz members travel widely so the latest "technology" in FS, FF, birdman, bigway all filters back to this dz.

Why do I mark down from a perfect 5 out of 5? This is an international website so we cant simply place Weston against the best in Briton but against the best in the world. For "aircraft" there must imho be at least two planes to get a 4 rating. To get a 5 one must be a tail plane. [or a jet or chopper or other party plane] We have a single Dornier - it's the right size in the UK so the dz is similar to a single otter at a US dz. For "facilities" to get a 5 you need a bunkhouse. For "services" to get a 4 I would want sponsored organised loads (we are still a club attitude so this happens but you cant guarantee it) and a 5 I would want to be able to test rigs, canopies, etc. But we do have a brand new well stocked gear store and a rigging ability that I think is the best (I may be biassed).

Check us out, definitely the best in the area, some might say the best in the UK.

I jumped at weston when it was still RAFSPA a number of years ago. And as a inexperianced jumper i was treated as a hiderance and what felt like been brushed aside for more important things, (experianced jumpers). I recently went to weston with some friends, and was expecting to experiance more of the same, but what i found was a DZ a million miles away from what i remembered. From the manifest staff who whilst busy, were still more than willing to wait and help get my doc's checked. To the CCI who was more than happy to chat to me and make me feel welcome. And the new gear shack, which is run by a lovly lady(sorry forgot your name..whoops) who was willing to stay long after closing time so i could make the last lift, and then still not get annoyed when i was picking her brains about kit that i needed. And all the usual jumpers, i never felt or saw anything that made it feel as it was "them and us". Infact people were introducing them selves to us, to find out more about us and to see if we wanted to "put things out of the door" a refreshing change!
All in all, a relly good DZ, which could fast become my new home DZ.
